Early spring awakenings and monthly scribblings from Douglas and friendsIt's a bright, sunny morning and Douglas Furr is stirring from his winter slumber. Well, he's actually just waking up groggy as usual when he's asked to rise at sun up, and is taking his first sip of coffee. He didn't exactly sleep through the whole winter - possums do not hibernate and therefore they are susceptible to frostbite, especially on their delicate ears. (This is why Douglas wears his hat when it is cold out.) When the temperatures drop below freezing and snow blankets the ground, Douglas likes to hunker down and enjoy low-key indoor activities: making hats for his friends, helping Hedgie with his dried flower crafts, indulging in Weylan's infamous hot cocoa, watching desert racing with Corrs. What are some of your favorite winter activities? Do you like to stay inside and be cozy? Do you prefer to spend a lot of time sledding, hiking, or snowshoeing? Or do you like a little bit of both - spending time outdoors then coming in to warm up? Look for regularly scheduled snippets from your favorite adventure possum, friends, and guests!Dusting off the last snow of winter, Douglas has enacted his plan to bring you a regularly scheduled blog post on the second Saturday of each month. There will be, of course, unscheduled posts and additions between those times, which may originate from Douglas' friends or other guest speakers. Hedgie plans on sharing crucial information on pollinator friendly gardening practices as we slowly edge into the planting season. Weylan has agreed to share a recipe or two. Corrs is still in a late-winter funk brought on by lack of adventurous activities, and has not agreed to anything at the moment other than allowing his hooded jacket to finally get laundered. Well Corrs, we hear you and I reckon that we're ready for a spring jaunt. Although we embrace all the seasons and the beauty that they bring, it's hard not to want to rush the arrival of warm days and longer afternoons!
Spring is right around the corner, and while Douglas has taken a bit of a cozy respite these winter months, he and the crew are ready to start some new adventures and share some stories. Cheers!
